Asthma
Description
Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition where the airways in the lungs become inflamed and narrow, making breathing difficult. This inflammation can be triggered by allergens (like pollen or dust), irritants (such as smoke or pollution), infections, or physical activity. Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. Asthma can range from mild to severe and may require long-term management to control symptoms. It is typically treated with bronchodilators (to open the airways) and anti-inflammatory medications (to reduce inflammation). While asthma cannot be cured, it can be controlled with proper treatment. Severe asthma attacks may require emergency medical attention if symptoms cannot be relieved with usual medications.
