Anemia

Description

Anemia is a condition in which the body lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry adequate oxygen to the body's tissues. The most common type of anemia is iron-deficiency anemia, caused by insufficient iron intake or blood loss. Other forms include vitamin B12 deficiency anemia, sickle cell anemia, and anemia related to chronic disease. Symptoms of anemia can include fatigue, weakness, pallor, dizziness, and shortness of breath. The severity of symptoms varies depending on the underlying cause of the anemia. Treatment options include iron supplements, vitamin B12 injections, or addressing the root cause (such as managing chronic conditions or stopping bleeding). Anemia can be diagnosed with a simple blood test, and treatment is usually effective in replenishing red blood cells and alleviating symptoms.
