Klinefelter Syndrome
Description
Klinefelter syndrome is a genetic disorder in males caused by an extra X chromosome (XXY instead of XY). It affects testosterone production, fertility, and physical development. Common symptoms include: Delayed puberty, reduced muscle mass, and enlarged breast tissue (gynecomastia), Low sperm count or infertility, Tall stature, long limbs, and learning difficulties. Diagnosis is made through chromosomal analysis (karyotyping) and hormone tests. Treatment includes testosterone therapy to improve muscle strength, bone health, and energy levels. Speech and physical therapy may also help with developmental challenges.
